May 9 2008 (Poughkeepsie, NY) - The New York Tactical Officers Association held its 2008 expo in Poughkeepsie NY May 6 – 8 and gathered over 500 tactical law enforcement attendees including federal, state, and local agencies along with over 85 vendors, including American Innovations, Inc.
The NYTOA expo was focused on tactical teams and other law enforcement personnel. Those who came to the Expo were able to attend classes and learn more about ballistics, integration of EOD into SWAT, less lethal tactical decision making, leadership, certification, armored vehicle operations and more. The first night closed with a fun casino night and vendor reception.
American Innovations, Inc. had the opportunity to participate in the training offered at NYTOA Expo 2008. Mr. Christopher Boylan eloquently delivered an insightful presentation of the American Innovations, Inc. explosives detection systems XD-2i and XD-3i and gave class attendees a thorough live demonstration of the equipment’s capabilities. The two sessions where the American Innovations, Inc. explosives detectors (aka ETD) were presented were: "Integrating Swat in to EOD", by John Gnagey and "Explosives Breaching Demo" by Keith Latarski.
The Expo closed with a presentation by Col. Daniel McKnight "Leading on Tough Days"; Col. McKnight commander of the 3rd Ranger Battalion, is known for its leadership while fighting in Mogadishu, Somalia when he attempted to rescue the pilots from a downed UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. This event later lead to the underlying story in the book and later movie, "Black Hawk Down."
